Black Lives Have Mattered To Republicans For Over 160 Years
The REPUBLICAN PARTY is responsible for the Emancipation Proclamation which freed slaves in the states of rebellion on New Year’s Day in January of 1863, the passage of the 13th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution in 1865 ending slavery forever, and the new freedoms, political and economic, granted by those actions.
Democrat leadership in our larger cities in America have failed to solve the problems that have been the focus of attention the last few years. Government programs they champion have held minorities down, created huge educational disparities, and destroyed traditional families. The Biden administration only further fans the flames of division leaving America more divided than ever.
On the other hand, Republicans are proud of our long Civil Rights heritage, including:
- Formation in 1854 as the Party of abolition of slavery.
- Passage of the 13th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution ending slavery forever, all Senate and House Republicans voted in favor. Most of the Democratic party voted against.
- Passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 with almost all Republican votes.
- Passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1871 to crush the Ku Klux Klan with almost all Republican Votes.
- Passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 with a greater percentage of Republican votes (around 80%) than the Democratic party.
- Passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 with a greater percentage of Republican votes (over 80%) than the Democratic party.
Literally, black lives have mattered to Republicans for over 160 years and we continue the fight today - as proved by the Trump adminstration who achieved the lowest black and hispanic enemployment in US history.
